Oklahoma Prepares To Execute Emmanuel Littlejohn For 1992 Convenience Store Murder

The State of Oklahoma is scheduled to execute Emmanuel Littlejohn at 10 a.m. for his role in a deadly Oklahoma City robbery.

Littlejohn has been on death row for 30 years after a jury convicted him in the 1992 murder of convenience store owner Kenneth Meers.

The family of Kenneth Meers said they deserve to have their lives back.

Littlejohn and his attorneys said it was not him who pulled the trigger during that robbery, and they are hoping the Governor commutes his sentence.

He was sentenced to death after a jury found him and Glenn Bethany guilty of the robbery.

Bethany was sentenced to life in prison.

Littlejohn’s attorneys said it was Bethany who pulled the trigger and shot Meers in the face, but Bethany and his attorneys said it was Littlejohn.

The state pardon and parole board recommended clemency for Littlejohn in August, but the state and Meers’ family called for the execution to move forward.

Littlejohn admits he took part in the robbery, saying he was sorry and that he remains a work in progress.

Supporters for Littlejohn are asking Gov. Kevin Stitt to spare his life.

Advocates delivered thousands of signatures to the governor’s office on Wednesday in hopes of stopping the execution.

So far, the Governor has not made any indication that he will commute Littlejohn’s sentence.
