The State Board of Education said on Thursday that Tulsa Public Schools is no longer required to give monthly updates.

The department put the district's accreditation under review last fall because of low test scores and issues with finances.

Ryan Walters threatened for the state to take control of TPS if it didn't make changes.

Then Superintendent Deborah Gist resigned, and Doctor Ebony Johnson took over as the new superintendent.

TPS updates have shown improvements and Walters has had high praise for the district.
