The Golden Hurricane defense held the Mean Green scoreless for the first 20 minutes of the game Saturday night, but then the floodgates opened.
UNT rattled off 24 points in the final FIVE minutes of the first half and scored 3 touchdowns in the third quarter. That 45-point explosion put the game out of reach for TU.
Tulsa's 2 touchdowns came in the fourth quarter: an 18-yard touchdown pass from Cooper Legas to Jack Wright, and Tim Carpenter's 5-yard touchdown pass to Connor Vaughn with six seconds left in the game.
The Hurricane amassed 415 yards of offense on Saturday, 186 through the air and 229 on the ground. Kirk Francis finished 13-29 for 101 yards and an interception.
The Mean Green threw for 439 yards and rushed for 179, recording 618 yards of total offense, the most by a Hurricane opponent this season.
Following the game, head coach Kevin Wilson met with the media to break down the loss.
