Police Investigate 2 Unrelated Homicides In Tulsa In 24 Hours

Officers responded to a reported homicide at a home near 15th and Harvard on October 10 around 4:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, they discovered 57-year-old John Fender deceased in a back room of the house.

Detectives believe Fender died as a result of a domestic altercation. The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators say the suspect, Blake McDonell, is in custody in New York City.

In a separate incident, officers were dispatched to a shooting at The Gas Chamber dispensary, located near 1500 E. Pine, on October 11 at approximately 1:40 a.m.

Upon arrival, they found 35-year-old Montrez Thomas dead on the floor.

Detectives reviewed video footage and interviewed employees, learning that Thomas had been involved in an altercation with another man inside the dispensary.

The altercation escalated into a fight, which ultimately led to Thomas being shot multiple times. The suspect fled the scene, and detectives are actively pursuing leads for an arrest.
