9-Year-Old Football Player Scores First Touchdown After Leukemia Battle

Nycto Banos, a nine-year-old on the third and fourth-grade Cleveland football team, recently scored his first touchdown.

"My teammates are really good people and I am really glad to be on this team,” Banos said.

The reason he never joined a team until now was because Banos battled Leukemia for three years.

“In Kindergarten that's when I got it that's when it hit. I couldn't walk for a little bit,” Banos said.

Even while undergoing treatment, his mind was on the game.

"He has been wanting to play football his whole life,” Haley Sitton, Nycto’s mom, said.

When he went into remission in December and was cleared by his doctors, he stayed persistent.

"To watch him go from not being able to breathe and now running and playing football is just amazing,” Sitton said.

Coach Chris Gabriel wanted to take it a step further by designing a play just for his new player; a chance for Banos to score a touchdown.

"Hands down my favorite play,” Gabriel said.

He found his way into the endzone, and into the hearts of everyone who saw him do it.
