Tulsa Family-Run Business Transforms Houses With Customized Pumpkin Displays

You have heard of people hiring businesses to hang Christmas decorations, but what about Halloween decor? One Tulsa family will buy and set up pumpkins and mums for you—and will even come back to clean it all up, too.

Starting a new business was about getting the whole family involved for Shannon Prokop and her husband, Justin.

“It's something that is fun to do, especially if we get to do it together,” she said.

Together, they arrange pumpkins of all sizes and shapes to create Halloween displays. Shannon is the designer, and Justin helps with photography and the heavy lifting.

“If there is a heavier pumpkin, I can lift it a little easier, maybe not for long,” he said.

Even their children are involved; their son workshopped name ideas before coming up with The Pumpkin Squad.

“He is 11, and he's like, ‘Mom, we should do it together as a family.’ He is always wanting to do something together.”

They offer four different packages, ranging in price from $300 to $1,000. Part of the service includes The Pumpkin Squad returning to pick everything up at the end of the holiday season.

“It makes it a little bit easier for people who don't have the time,” said Shannon. “Pumpkins are heavy and they are dirty, and so we can come set it up, make it look pretty, and give your porch a wow factor. That’s what we want to do.”

Shannon says she's never done anything like this before but is always up for a challenge.

“We are kind of serial entrepreneurs,” she said. “I can't stop. My brain is always going. All it takes is for somebody to say, like, ‘Hmm, would you do that for me?’ and I am like, I can try.”

And she's happy that her family wants to try together.
