Goodwill Tulsa recently announced the launch of Work Ready Oklahoma in the Tulsa area.

While this program is not new to the state, it is a new initiative for the Tulsa community, as the nearest Work Ready sites are in Okmulgee and Tahlequah.

Work Ready Oklahoma aims to support families who are underemployed or unemployed. The program hosts a monthly workshop where participants can learn about communication skills, motivational skills, and resume preparation.

Program Director Steve Hahn said 26 people signed up for the program in September. There has also been significant interest from businesses eager to partner with Work Ready.

"That’s really the energy and partnership, to give hope back to folks who have been struggling or who have been in poverty," Hahn said. "We’re starting out with the $15 wage entry-level positions where there are steps to climbing the ladder in companies. We have a handful of companies at this time that have really engaged with us in that regard."

Anyone interested in Work Ready Oklahoma can visit workreadyoklahoma.com to find the Tulsa program and sign up.
