Some of the fastest and loudest cars are racing into Tulsa this weekend for Throwdown in T-Town.
It pits the best drivers in the sport against each other for the Mid-West Drag Racing Series World Finals.
“We have guys coming from Alberta, Canada, from Utah, California, Alabama, and they all come right here and put on an incredible show,” said the announcer, Luke Clevenger.
It is a high-speed, adrenaline-pumping action that only those who experience it can understand.
“I think every one of them, they do not become a fan or become a racer just by happenstance,” Clevenger continued, saying, “Every one of them stepped in a car or got really close to a car, and their eyes went huge, and they I have to do that again.”
Fans coming out on Friday and Saturday will have that opportunity. Proud American Motorsports offers rides in its two-seater and three-seater dragsters.
The two-seater is named The Loud American and costs $250 per person.
In a pass live on News On 6 at 9 a.m., the car went 163 mph in 4.38 seconds.
“That was a spectacular pass,” said Clevenger. “That was tremendous air, and a light passenger made for the fastest pass The Loud American has ever made.”
Throwdown in T-Town is Friday, Oct. 18 through Saturday, Oct. 19 at Tulsa Raceway Park. Gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday, with races starting at 5 p.m. Racing starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Parking costs $25, but entry to the event is free. For more information and to get your free ticket visit HERE.
