The Lebanese Food Festival at Saint Antony Orthodox Church is set to delight attendees with a vibrant celebration of Lebanese culture and cuisine.
The event, known as Hafli — which means party in Arabic — has been a cherished tradition for over 45 years, bringing together the Lebanese community in the Tulsa area.
Festivalgoers can enjoy a variety of traditional Lebanese dishes, including Hashwa (rice and meat stuffing), Yubra (grape leaf rolls), cabbage rolls, chicken, tabbouleh, hummus, and pita.
In addition to the main meal, there will be a bake sale offering frozen meals for takeout, along with a selection of desserts such as Greba cookies and baklava (baklava).
Attendees also have the opportunity to tour the ornate Orthodox sanctuary, guided by community members.
Lebanese cuisine is renowned for its fresh ingredients, reflecting the agricultural richness of the Levant region. The festival showcases recipes that have been passed down through generations, emphasizing the importance of fresh, locally sourced produce.
For many in the community, cooking is a way to connect with their heritage and family. Festival organizer Olivia Rahal expressed a deep appreciation for Lebanese food, highlighting its role in nurturing familial bonds and traditions.
The festival invites everyone to come together to experience the warmth and flavor of Lebanese culture. For more information, visit order.hafli.org.
