Election Day was in full swing on Tuesday as voters head to the polls to cast their ballots. Nicolin and Mikasa Decker say their line never became overwhelming.
“It was a little under an hour, so not too bad,” said Mikasa.
“About 40 minutes, 45 minutes,” added Nicolin.
The couple originally tried to vote early but say those lines were about three times as long as the ones on Tuesday, so they’re pleased it worked out this time around.
“Definitely relief for sure,” said Mikasa.
“And having active participation, regardless of what party, is absolutely what this is built on,” said Nicolin.
Short wait times were also the case for Tim Powell over at Metropolitan Baptist Church.
“It was really easy; we waited maybe an hour,” he said.
Luke and Gracie Talley were part of the crowd waiting their turn to enter the booth. They say the wait hadn't been bad.
“We’ve been here for maybe 15 minutes now, and the lines are moving pretty quick which is nice,” said Luke.
No matter how long they waited, each person in line was there because they cared about different things.
“The integrity of the candidates and respect for the democratic process,” said Powell.
And as Tulsa County headed into the final hours of voting, these voters say they feel proud that, regardless of the outcome of this election, their voices will be heard.
“I just think for the country and everyone’s sake, it’s important,” said Gracie.
“I would hope that it doesn’t cause greater division, that it just brings people together,” said Mikasa.
