Voters Approve State Question 834, Reject 833, Decide Supreme Court Retentions

Oklahoma voters decided on two state questions along with deciding whether to retain three Oklahoma Supreme Court judges.

State Question 833 would have allowed property owners to create public infrastructure districts within towns and cities to finance improvements to things such as roads, sidewalks, and parks. That question failed with 62% of the vote.

Voters passed State Question 834, which now clarifies the Oklahoma constitution to say only U.S. citizens, instead of all U.S. citizens, are allowed to vote in elections.

Oklahomans also decided on whether to retain three Oklahoma Supreme Court justices.

Race 60

Judge Noma Gurich covers District Three and she will retain her position with just over 50% of the vote.

Race 61

Yvonne Kauger represents District Four on the state supreme court. She will lose her position. The results were very close with just over 50% of the vote.

Race 62

James Edmondson was the third Oklahoma Supreme Court justice on the ballot. He represents District Seven and will keep his position.

With one of those justices being voted out, Gov. Kevin Stitt will now be able to select a new justice to replace Kauger for the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
