The Alzheimer's Association says about two-thirds of people with the disease are women.

There was an Alzheimer's Association Women's AWARE luncheon at Southern Hills Country Club to raise awareness and raise money for research.

They learned about the latest medical trials and personal stories.

"There is hope in this,” said Debbie Elliott, AWARE Luncheon Co-Chair. “We are entering the era of treatment that hopefully down the road will be something that can be cured or at least managed, but I want them to leave with hope."

Last year, more than 70,000 people in Oklahoma had Alzheimer’s or dementia.
