Tulsa Soul-Pop musician, OmaleyB started singing in church when he was 12 years old. Now, he is set to release his next album “Live More” this Friday.

OmaleyB says the album is a message and invitation to overcome life’s hardships, embrace each moment, and rekindle the light within us. He stopped by the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to share more about his new music and perform one of his new songs.

The Message of "Live More"

The name “Live More” is inspired by his father's health struggles and recovery.

"This isn’t just an album; it’s a message, a call to anyone who has been scarred by life’s cruelty, pain, and hardships," said OmaleyB "Many of us, somewhere along the way, have lost touch with the love, innocence, and joy we were born with—the hope and wonder that once filled our hearts. My hope, with Live More, is to rekindle that light. To remind us all of the love, joy, forgiveness, and peace that are still within reach, even after life has tried to take them away. This album is about healing, about remembering that we can choose to live on our terms, not by the conditions life has imposed on us."

The album has been in the works since September 2022, with OmaleyB crediting the Tulsa Artist Fellowship (TAF) for providing a grant to support the project.

Growing Up in the Church

OmaleyB's musical roots trace back to his upbringing in the church, where he was exposed to various instruments like the drums, piano, and organ.

"I grew up in the church. You know, my dad was a pastor, and I grew up playing the drums, the piano, the organ, and I would just sit and watch, you know, the other musicians," he shared.

The impact of those performances inspired OmaleyB to take his music to the next level. In addition to his local performances in Tulsa, OmaleyB has also played shows in other states, such as Mississippi, where he'll be traveling in November.

"I just saw like when the effect of you performing from your heart and people being changed and people being inspired by it made me want to, you know, change the world," he said.

His name, OmaleyB also draws inspiration from the classic Disney character Thomas O'Malley from The Aristocats.

A Special Song for His Mom

OmaleyB performed a special song live for News On 6 dedicated to his mother, whose birthday was Wednesday. The song came from a personal experience when OmaleyB realized he hadn't danced with his mom, and she was later shot in 2022.

"I wanted to make sure that another year didn't pass before I took the opportunity and a chance to dance with her. So I've been dancing with her ever since," he shared.

Joining OmaleyB for the performance were his band members: Marcus James (drummer), Aleeah Bates (background singer), Greg Williams (bassist), and Caleb Mendoza (lead guitarist). With the release of "Live More" and the special performance for his mother's birthday, OmaleyB is poised to share his message of healing and resilience with his audience.
