The Route 66 Christmas Chute in Sapulpa is open! The lights are on along Route 66 in Sapulpa for the annual Christmas chute thanks to the help of News On 6's Travis Meyer who was on hand for the kick-off.

The chute takes weeks to set up and requires many hours and volunteers to make it happen.
Sam Mayberry's company Let It Glow Christmas Lights helped install some of the ornaments in the displays this year.
"It's a really joyful time, definitely if you have an open evening, make it happen. Bring your family, come out here, enjoy the lights, enjoy the community. It's really amazing," said Mayberry. "For us to be able to come out here, set this up is really a privilege, and we are honored."
The chute is about 800 feet of decorations up and down Dewey Avenue in the middle of Historic Downtown Sapulpa on Route 66.
"This is my first time coming up here, and it's amazing," said Gabriella Bartelme.
For the rest of the year families who visit can expect the twinkle of lights coupled with festive music and plenty of holiday themed activities to enjoy.
"Just come here because it's really fun, and you get to walk around and look at all the beautiful lights," said Bartolo Lopez.
While this event may have only started in 2022, three years later, some say it's their newest family tradition.
"To be here, to see the kids and the families enjoying the lights, running around high fiving and playing tag, all the things is just really cool," said Mayberry.
