Thanksgiving travel is in full swing as people hit the road and head to the airport ahead of the holiday.
The day before Thanksgiving remains one of the busiest travel days of the year, including at Tulsa International Airport.
Airport officials expect nearly 125,000 passengers to pass through during the Thanksgiving holiday period, a 6% increase from last year.
The rise in traffic is due to additional flights and increased frequency on existing routes.
With the holiday rush, Tulsa International Airport Communications Manager Kim Kuehler advises travelers to plan ahead and arrive earlier than usual.
“We do recommend that you arrive early just in case you need a little extra time to find a parking spot, get through TSA, and then it just makes your experience so much more relaxed,” Kuehler said.
If you're flying out of Tulsa this week, officials say Wednesday and Sunday will be the busiest travel days.
The airport also reminds travelers to double-check their carry-on items to ensure they comply with TSA regulations to avoid delays at security checkpoints.
