OHP: 2 Dead, 1 Injured In Roger Mills County Crash

Two people are dead and one is injured following a crash Sunday morning on US-283, about seven miles south of Cheyenne in Roger Mills County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Two people are dead and one is injured following a crash Sunday morning on US-283, about seven miles south of Cheyenne in Roger Mills County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

OHP says the crash happened when a car driven by Rene G. De La Cruz, 59, of Elk City, was traveling northbound on US-28 and began to fishtail, entering the southbound lanes. The car then collided with a car driven by Misti D. Morris, 39, of Cheyenne.

Morris was pronounced dead at the scene by the Berlin Fire Department.

The passenger in De La Cruz's vehicle, Thomas J. Stampul, 24, of Sayre, was also pronounced dead at the scene, according to OHP.

De La Cruz was transported to the hospital and admitted in critical condition with head, trunk, arm, and leg injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
