Elderly Oklahoma Woman Falls Victim To Phone Scam, Loses $15,000

Days before Christmas, an elderly woman in Noble says she lost $15,000 from her savings account due to a phone scam.

The woman says her bank told her it is unable to get her money back because the money was lost in a cash deposit. 

What Happened? 

The Noble Police Department said the elderly woman answered a phone call convincing her to remove money from her account, then on Dec. 19, she drove to another bank where she was told to deposit $15,000 into an ATM. 

Who Are The Scammers? 

The scammers have not been identified, as Noble Police are still investigating. 

The family of the woman sa they hope there is a way to link the bank account that received their relative's money to the scammers, as the woman did not discard the ATM receipt. 

"Someone needs to be held accountable," the woman's granddaughter said. 

The Victim's Warning 

The elderly woman said she is emotional and feels embarrassed to fall victim to the scam.

However, the most important thing to her is spreading the word about these scammers so no one else makes the same mistake. 

"If anyone tells you to keep a secret from bank tellers or family members, then you should speak up," the woman's granddaughter said. "Don't listen to the caller, because that's how they get you."
