U.S. Marshals And Police Arrest Second Murder Suspect In Edmond Home Invasion

U.S. Marshals and metro police were seen on video arresting a murder suspect Wednesday morning in connection with a deadly home invasion Saturday in Edmond.

Officers, including U.S. Marshals, Oklahoma City police, and Edmond police, took Robert Mayfield Jr. into custody at an Oklahoma City Apartment complex.

Mayfield is the second suspect arrested in the case. On Sunday, police arrested Taurian Knight.

Knight and Mayfield are accused of forcing their way into a home near Santa Fe Avenue and Danforth Road on Saturday. Three people were inside at the time.

Officers said Xiao Hua Wang, 61 had been shot in the chest and died.

"My heart goes out to the whole family," said Rachel Bishop, a neighbor.

Police found Wang deceased, still holding a knife.

Officers say another man was pistol-whipped– and a woman was unharmed.

"I've lived on the street almost a year now. It's kind of been crazy because I’ve never seen anything like this happen before," Bishop said.

Victim Reported Prior Burglary

Court filings allege that Knight and Mayfield had been at the house in the days leading up to the home invasion.

Three days prior to the home invasion---one of the victims reported a burglary.

The woman told police three men had broken into the home, assaulted her, and robbed her of $10,000.

The woman told police she believed the same men were responsible for both crimes,

After searching the area for surveillance video police found footage of two hooded men walking near the home. A suspect vehicle was identified---and determined to belong to Knight's girlfriend.

Police learned Knight, who was out on bond for a marijuana grow robbery in Grady County, was wearing an ankle monitor.

A review of those records revealed he was around the murder scene at the time of the homicide.

Neither Knight nor Mayfield have been formally charged.

Knight remains jailed on a $10 million bond.
