Oklahoma City operated 32 plows at its peak during Thursday's winter system that blew across Oklahoma, hitting the southeast parts of the state the hardest. Another system arriving Friday through Sunday might reignite the operation.
According to the News 9 weather team, an arctic blast will reach Oklahoma late Friday, lasting into the next week. There's a chance of snow that could come with it, but it is still too far out to estimate how much.
Oklahoma City's Public Works Department plans for winter weather events about 36 to 48 hours from the start of the system.
"As it gets closer and more clear we start making preparations that are needed," said Chris Daniels, OKC's streets superintendent.
The city said it has plenty of salt to respond to the next winter system. Leading into the previous week, there were more than 14,000 tons stored in the city's salt barns.
Roughly 700 tons were used to treat the most recent winter system
