Northwestern Oklahoma State University will close Thursday morning until 11 a.m. due to a potentially hazardous substance found in the Science Building, the university announced in a social media post.

All classes on all campuses are canceled until 11 a.m. on Jan. 16. Faculty, staff and students are instructed to avoid campus, with the exception of the Wellness Center, residence halls and Coronado Café, which will remain open.

According to the post, proper authorities will remove the material from the Science Building Thursday morning. The situation is contained, and there is no immediate danger to the campus community.

The university has not specified the type of substance discovered but assured that safety measures are in place during the removal process.
