You can watch the full debate below.
Who are the candidates?
Oklahoma City voters will choose between incumbent Chairwoman Paula Lewis and challengers Jan Barrick and Niah Spriggs in the upcoming election on Feb. 11.
Lewis, a co-owner of Quest Pediatric Therapy, joined the OKCPS board in 2016 and became chairwoman in 2017. She was reelected in 2021 and is seeking a third term. Barrick, the founder and former CEO of Alpha Plus Educational Systems, retired in April after nearly 40 years with the company. Spriggs, an educator and entrepreneur, holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in urban education, according to NonDoc.
NonDoc editor-in-chief Tres Savage and News 9 education reporter Cameron Joiner moderated the debate. The Metro Tech Multimedia Journalism program assisted with post-debate fact-checking.
