Douglas Jacobs has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including second-degree murder, in connection with the April 2023 shooting at the Whiskey Barrel Saloon that left three people dead, the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Jacobs was among 14 people charged in a 35-count case stemming from a violent confrontation between rival motorcycle gangs at the Oklahoma City bar. Prosecutors say Jacobs, a member of the Ghostmen—a support club for the Bandidos Motorcycle Gang—was part of an orchestrated attack on the Homietos Motorcycle Gang.

According to investigators, members of the Bandidos assaulted Eric Oberholtzer and another Homietos member upon entering the bar. During the altercation, Oberholtzer shot Francisco Tanajara, a Bandidos member. Jacobs then fatally shot Oberholtzer before hiding his firearm in a co-defendant’s truck and fleeing the scene. Tanajara and another Bandidos member, Andrew Sump, were also killed in the incident.

Jacobs was originally charged with first-degree murder, but the charge was amended to second-degree murder. On Jan. 24, 2025, he entered a blind guilty plea to all charges and was sentenced as follows:

  1. Murder in the Second Degree: 30 years, with the first 10 years to be served in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (DOC)
  2. Conspiracy to Commit a Felony: 10 years (concurrent)
  3. Gang-Related Offense: 5 years (consecutive)
  4. Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony: 10 years (concurrent)
  5. Carrying a Weapon Where Alcohol is Served: $250 fine

Jacobs will serve a total of 15 years in DOC, with the remaining 20 years of his sentence suspended. Upon release, he must forfeit his firearms and will be subject to gang-related restrictions.

Separate Case Results in Conviction

In a separate case, an Oklahoma County jury convicted Gabriel Sanchez of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and first-degree robbery. The charges stem from a March 2022 stabbing at an apartment complex on Rockwell Avenue.

According to police, Sanchez attacked his estranged wife, Danielle Montantez, leaving her with severe cuts to her hand, arm, and face. After stabbing her, Sanchez stole her purse and fled the scene. He was later apprehended by Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers following a pursuit in Bryan County.

The jury recommended a sentence of:

  1. Assault and Battery with a Deadly Weapon: 10 years in DOC
  2. First-Degree Robbery: 20 years in DOC

Sanchez was taken into custody following the verdict and remains in the Oklahoma County Detention Center. His formal sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 20, 2025.

Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Behenna expressed gratitude to the jurors, witnesses, law enforcement officers, and prosecutors involved in both cases.
