The psychological thriller McVeigh, which explores the events leading up to the Oklahoma City bombing, is set to release in theaters on March 21, 2025, ahead of the 30th anniversary of the bombing on April 19.
The film, directed by Mike Ott, premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival and has already gained significant attention, including a nomination at the Warsaw International Film Festival.
Co-written by Ott and Alex Gioulakis, McVeigh is said to delve into the mind of Timothy McVeigh, the Army veteran who orchestrated one of the deadliest acts of domestic terrorism in U.S. history. Set against the backdrop of the Waco siege, the film examines the chilling plan that culminated in the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
Alfie Allen, known for his role in Game of Thrones, portrays McVeigh, with Brett Gelman taking on the role of Terry Nichols. Ashley Benson, Anthony Carrigan, and Tracy Letts also feature in key roles. Ott’s direction, paired with a haunting narrative, provides an intense portrayal of the psychological unraveling that led to the tragic bombing.
Ott and Gioulakis previously co-wrote California Dreams, and the pair's collaboration in McVeigh promises a thought-provoking and unsettling examination of McVeigh’s descent into extremism.
The trailer for the film was released on Wednesday. Watch it here:
