Motorists are reminded to move over for first responders, as required by state law. Failure to do so may result in a hefty fine.

Brandon Pennel, reporting from I-44 in Newcastle, noted improved road conditions on the interstates but emphasized lingering hazards on side roads, off-ramps and less-traveled thoroughfares.

An accident on eastbound I-40 has slowed traffic on the east side of the metro, causing delays for westbound drivers.

Another accident has been reported at Independence Avenue near Southwest 134th Street and State Highway 37, leading to additional traffic disruptions.

Authorities urge drivers to remain vigilant and allow extra time for travel.
