One person was rescued Monday morning after a crash left a vehicle in a southwest Oklahoma City waterway, police say.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said troopers were called to the scene of a wreck at around 3:30 a.m. near South Council Road and Interstate 40.

After arriving on the scene, troopers said one person was still inside their vehicle, which was partially submerged in the North Canadian River.

OHP said that person was later rescued from their vehicle.

It is unknown what led to the crash, or what caused the vehicle to end up in the river.

Crews are now working to remove the vehicle from the water.
