Sam Landry tossed nine scoreless innings, earning both a win and a save, while No. 1 Oklahoma Softball (25-0, 5-0 SEC) scored 11 of their 13 runs in the final five innings to sweep No. 15 Arkansas (20-5, 1-4 SEC) on March 15.

In game one, OU won 7-0, scoring six runs in the seventh inning to back Landry’s complete-game shutout. Game two saw Arkansas jump to a 2-0 lead, but the Sooners responded with runs in each of the last four innings for a 6-4 victory.

Game 1 | OU 7, Arkansas 0

Nelly McEnroe-Marinas gave the Sooners an early lead with a solo home run in the first inning. After Arkansas threatened in the bottom half, Landry escaped a jam with a double play. The game remained 1-0 until Oklahoma exploded for six runs in the seventh. McEnroe-Marinas drove in a run, followed by Cydney Sanders’ two-RBI double and Gabbie Garcia’s two-RBI single. Ailana Agabayani capped the scoring with an RBI single. Landry finished the game with four strikeouts and a flawless defensive performance, completing her third shutout of the season.

Game 2 | OU 6, Arkansas 4

Kierston Deal struck out three in the first two innings but Arkansas took a 2-0 lead in the third on three hits.

Gabbie Garcia cut the deficit to 2-1 with a two-out RBI double in the fourth, sparking a stretch where OU scored in four straight innings. Deal pitched a scoreless fourth, striking out her fifth batter.

Isabela Emerling put OU ahead 4-3 in the fifth with her team-leading eighth home run, driving in Dayton. Arkansas briefly regained the lead with a pair of RBI in the fifth, making it 4-3.

Kasidi Pickering matched Emerling’s homer mark with a solo shot in the sixth to tie it at 4. The Sooners then took the lead as McEnroe-Marinas doubled, Dayton was hit by a pitch, and Emerling walked. Sydney Barker’s bases-loaded walk brought in McEnroe-Marinas.

McEnroe-Marinas added an insurance run in the seventh, singling in Maya Bland for a 6-4 lead. Landry entered in the sixth and earned the save, working around a two-out double to close it out.
