Oklahoma set to carry out first execution of 2025

Oklahoma Death Row inmate Wendall Grissom, who was convicted in the 2005 murder of 23-year-old Amber Matthews, is set to be executed on Thursday.

The State of Oklahoma is scheduled to carry out its first execution of the year, with Death Row inmate Wendell Grissom scheduled to be put to death on Thursday.

Grissom was convicted in the 2005 murder of 23-year-old Amber Matthews during a home invasion near Watonga in Blaine County.

Grissom's request to be spared from execution was denied by the Oklahoma State Pardon and Parole Board in February.

Grissom is set to be executed by lethal injection at the State Penitentiary at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
