On the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch, News 9 Reporter Addie Crawford heads to Norman for a sneak peek of the Sooners women's gymnastics team training as they prepare for the SEC Championship this weekend.
As the team enters the postseason, OU gymnasts Dani Sievers and Faith Torrez speak on their training regimen, and what challenges lie ahead of them as they face the best of the best in the upcoming competition.
Torrez: "We have such a great team. The chemistry is amazing. So we all really go out there and do it for each other, and it makes it so much more special."
Sievers: "I just think the fanbases are going to be really incredible. I think every SEC school brings [its] own crowd, especially Sooner nation. I mean, that's kind of hard to compare to, but yeah, we're really excited just to get down there and compete for an SEC championship."
Sievers: "Yeah, absolutely. I think we set a new attendance record this year, and it's it really elevates our performance. So we're really excited that Sooner nation is showing up and showing out, and we really thrive off of it. So we're really grateful for everyone's support."
Torrez and Sievers say the excitement and support they've received over the season has been strong according to the athletes, and they hope to go far in the competition set for March 22, 2025 in Birmingham, Alabama.
