The Oklahoma City Thunder are hosting an event on Saturday to hand out free coffee to the first 500 fans who show up.

The Thunder organization will hold a coffee pop-up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cafe Cacao, which will include a free coffee sleeve designed by local and Thunder TAG artist Nathaly Ramos.

Thunder Corporate Communications Manager Landis Tindell said it is to celebrate and connect with their fans in different ways.

"It's just another way we can [reach out] to our community," Tindell said. "It's important that we reach all corners of our state and our city."

The event is a first of its kind for the Thunder, but Landis said the hope is that it will stick with people.

"Who doesn't like coffee?" Landis said. "Our city is really buzzing, and you see that every night when we're at the Paycom Center playing, and it's all thanks to our community. It's a nice way to give back."

The OKC Thunder will take on the Grizzlies next Thursday, which will also mark their Hispanic Heritage Night celebration.
