A former Norman City councilmember pleads no contest to charges of embezzlement, according to court records.

Investigators say Austin Ball misspent funding from his 2023 campaign on personal expenses.

According to prosecutors, Ball and his wife, Kayla Ball, used campaign donations for purchases including fast food, dollar store purchases, and a dental procedure to have an infected tooth removed.

Ball, who represented Norman's Ward 1, pleaded not guilty in February but took a plea deal this week.

The Cleveland County District Attorney's Office says Ball will serve a two-year deferred sentence and go through a substance abuse evaluation.
