My 2 Cents: ‘First Man’ Captures Importance Of Moon Landing

I told you last month that the director of a big budget movie about Apollo 11, and its star Ryan Gosling, decided to leave out the planting of the American flag on the moon.

They explained that the moon landing was perceived by the rest of the world as more of a human achievement than solely an American achievement.

Some groups were promising to boycott the movie when it came out, but after seeing it I tell you there's no need. 

There's no mistaking that it was an American achievement, old glory is on the rocket, on their space suits, and on the moon when they blast off from there.

There is no hint in the movie that putting the first man on the moon was an international achievement.

With that settled, let me give you a 20 second review of the film.

It's loud and shaky, especially In IMAX, but that's the best way to see it.

Actor Ryan Gosling captured Neil Armstrong's humble reserved personality as did the actor who played Buzz Aldrin.

As a history lover I especially appreciated that the movie stayed true to Armstrong's authorized biography, but in full disclosure, at two hours and 21 minutes my wife thought the movie was kind of slow...
