Bomb Squad Investigates Suspicious Bag Found At Downtown OKC Bank

The bomb squad responded to reports a suspicious bag found near a Chase bank building in downtown Oklahoma City, Monday afternoon.

The bomb squad was called to the scene in the 300 block of N. Broadway Ave.

A police spokesperson tells News 9 the bomb squad was dispatched to the scene just before 3 p.m. after a bank employee discovered the bag. No threats have been made against the bank.

Authorities shut down N. Broadway Ave. and EK Gaylord Blvd. in the area while crews worked the scene. At 5:30 p.m., the bomb squad detonated the bag in order to make the area safe.

Just after 6 p.m., police identified the contents of the bag to be two laptop computers. Who the computers belonged to is still not known, but the bag and its contents have been deemed safe. The roadways have since been reopened.
