The infant's mother, Kaci Loud, gave a victim impact statement , saying she hopes someday to not wake up full of hatred for him but that she doesn't think she will ever forgive him.
"My best friend's daughter, she was telling me the other day 'I want Emmy to come to my birthday party' and 'why did God take Emmy from us?" Loud said.
Loud said she thinks about her daughter everyday, and in a victim impact statement, Loud said she hopes someday to not wake up full of hatred for him but that she doesn't think she will ever forgive him.
"You don't see him cry, you don't see him feel any type of remorse and that hurts me more than anything."
Nordstedt had no response.
O'Rourke's family said Nordstedt's sentencing was a huge sigh of relief for them.
"I'm not worried anymore," Loud said. "You're going to spend the rest of your life in prison and that brings joy to me."
Now that this case is behind her, Loud wants to focus on telling Emmy's story and how her baby girl changed her life.
"Her bright eyes and smile brought light to my life. Literally, she was the light at the end of my tunnel," Loud said.
Owasso Police said Nordstedt, the boyfriend of the victim's mother, was alone with the infant on June 11 of that year when paramedics arrived and found her unresponsive.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's office ruled the death a homicide due to "multiple blunt impact injuries."
Loud says she noticed that Nordstedt didn't have much of a reaction after hearing the sentence.
"You don't see him cry, you don't see him feel any type of remorse and that hurts me more than anything," Loud said.
Nordstedt's attorney said he does plan to appeal the sentence.
