The Tulsa Housing Authority is launching a new program to help Tulsa County residents struggling to pay their rent.

THA said the new Emergency Rent Assistance Program is funded by CARES Act which recently awarded them up to $15 million.

“We’ve seen firsthand the impact of COVID-19 on our residents, and we know the need extends to tenants across our community,” said Aaron Darden, THA’s president & chief executive officer. “These rent assistance funds will give individuals and families the ability to focus their resources toward other needs, giving them a bit of breathing room in these very challenging times. We are so grateful to the County for their support and commitment to our community.”

A household will be eligible for up to three months of past due rent, for a maximum of $3,000. Applicants should provide a copy of their lease, pay stubs, and a letter from their landlord stating that they are behind on their rent and for which months the rent is past due. Applications will be available starting next Monday and will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 4, 2020.
