Starting Tuesday Oklahomans will be able to pick up birth and death records requests in person through a “will-call” system at three locations across the state.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health has announced that three vital records lobbies across the state will now offer a will call service, which gives people the option to pick up online orders of birth and death certificates in person instead of having them mailed. They say the typical mail in turnaround time for a vital record is about ten weeks, but they wanted to change that to give people a more convenient and efficient pickup option.

Those pickup offices include the locations in:

Tulsa
James O. Goodwin Health Center
5051 S 129th E Ave, Tulsa, OK 74134
McAlester
Pittsburg County Vital Stats
1400 E, 4288, College Ave, McAlester, OK 74501
Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City Vital Records Division
375 N Broadway Ave #321, Oklahoma City, OK 73102

Vital Records Director Kelly Baker said this was necessary to make things easier for Oklahomans in need of these documents.

“We closed our lobbies to the public last year due to the pandemic but we have learned from that experience that we can serve Oklahomans faster with an online approach,” Baker said.

According to Baker, orders will now typically be processed as soon as two days after the order is placed and then will be made available for pickup at will call or placed in the mail. People can order online or by phone (877-817-7364) with our partner VitalChek, and choose between receiving records by mail or pick-up. Records which require amendment or other action will take longer to process.

The certificates cost $15 each and there is a $5 processing fee for residents and $12.95 for non-residents.

Applicants must bring a photo ID and their order confirmation. Will Call pick-up hours are 2:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on weekdays (Monday-Friday).
