The court date for the man charged with killing Tulsa Police Sergeant Craig Johnson and injuring Officer Aurash Zarkeshan has been set.

It's been confirmed that David Ware's trial will begin on April 4th.

If Ware is convicted, he faces the death penalty, according to News On 6's Lori Fullbright.

Tulsa District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler says the standards are high in this case because the death penalty is final and everyone involved, including the 12 jurors, needs to be properly prepared.

Ware is charged with first-degree murder and shooting with intent to kill.

Prosecutors say Ware murdered Sergeant Craig Johnson and seriously injured Aurash Zarkeshan during a traffic stop in June 2020.
