Our amazing Oklahoman Thursday changed the way black Oklahomans found homes during the Jim Crow era.
Walter J. Edwards' keen business sense helped him break into the real estate business in the 1930's.
After a segregation ordinance was struck down in Oklahoma City, he began buying land and selling it to black residents.
According to the Oklahoma Historical Society, his business built and sold more than 750 homes to black families in Oklahoma City.
