The officer suffered multiple serious face injuries. An arrest warrant said she suffered a possible skull fracture and has several broken teeth.
Oklahoma City Police said they were called to the Parkview Flats apartment complex multiple times on Thursday.
Court documents said a woman was strangled by 26-year-old Deangelo Wright.
“There was some sort of relationship between the suspect and one of the people there at that address who was calling. He had been coming over and harassing that person and causing a disturbance,” Cpt. Valerie Littlejohn said.
Wright fled the scene twice when officers responded to the home, but when officers came a third time, they were able to talk to Wright.
“He turned on the officer and began to violently attack her,” Cpt. Littlejohn said.
Police said Wright repeatedly punched the officer in the face until she was unconscious.
Once she fell to the ground, court documents said he got on top of her and continued punching.
“When that witness intervened, that suspect then turned to the witness and attacked the witness,” Cpt. Littlejohn said.
Wright left the apartment complex again just before more officers arrived.
They found him hours later hiding in a laundry room at an apartment complex nearby.
“He was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center for aggravated assault and battery on a police officer, maiming and domestic violence by strangulation,” Cpt. Littlejohn said.
The man accused of the assault has been arrested and is being held on a $10 million bond. Wright was also wanted on outstanding warrants for aggravated assault, kidnapping and gang related offenses.
