So far in October, we've averaged highs around 82 and 83 degrees, way above the normal average of 74 degrees.
However, some relief from the heat is headed our way, but until then, we're expecting a high of 87 degrees on Wednesday in central Oklahoma.
Wednesday starts in the 60s, but will slowly creep hotter and hotter until we reach our high for the day. In the southern parts of Oklahoma, we could see highs in the 90s.
There is a very slight chance for isolated showers on Wednesday, but the ongoing lack of rain is contributing to Oklahoma's fire risk.
The list of counties under burn bans continues to grow as well.
Lake levels are also low across the state.
Record highs are possible over the next several days. On Thursday, it'll be even hotter with a high of 89 degrees.
It will again be hot and windy again on Thursday, contributing to the high fire danger.
On Friday, the high temperature drops significantly, resting at 78 degrees.
EMSA HEAT SAFETY TIPS

If you do not have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space (such as libraries or malls) during the day.
Don’t limit your use of air conditioning.
Use the buddy system if working outdoors and check on elderly neighbors.
