Western Heights had increased security Thursday after an alleged threat was made towards the district.
The district says officials were alerted to a threat on social media. Oklahoma City police were able to make contact with the person who made the threat, according to authorities.
Out of caution, the district heightened security measures and increased security presence.
The Western Heights Public Schools release can be read below:
Dear Western Heights Public Schools Community,
Early this morning, our school officials were alerted of a safety threat for Western Heights HS that was circulating on social media. In response, the district took immediate action working with local officials. At this time, the Oklahoma City Police Department has already been in contact with the alleged participant.
Out of an abundance of caution, we have implemented heightened security measures and have increased security presence. Please be assured that the safety and security of our staff and students remain our utmost priority.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.
