Oklahoma Attorney General, Gentner Drummond filed a lawsuit against two Texas-based natural gas companies on Wednesday.
Drummond alleged the companies inflated natural gas prices during a winter storm in 2021. He argued these companies 'preyed on Oklahomans' during that winter storm.

The lawsuit claims ET Gathering & Processing and Symmetry Energy Solutions used “a variety of tactics to drive up prices." Drummond said the lack of state pipeline regulations leaves Oklahoma vulnerable to “market manipulation” and “competitive behavior.”
Drummond’s lawsuit accuses the companies of several violations – including breach of contract, constructive fraud, and negligence. News 9 followed rising energy bills in a series of joint investigative reports with Oklahoma Watch last year. Drummond said in the summer of 2023, he planned to sue the companies that supplied the natural gas.
“I believe the level of fraud perpetrated on Oklahomans during Winter Storm Uri is both staggering and unconscionable,” Drummond said. “While many companies conducted themselves above board during that trying time, our analysis indicates that some bad actors reaped billions of dollars in ill-gotten gains. It is important that we do everything in our power to hold bad actors accountable for their actions.”
Drummond said his office will fight against additional companies that are involved in market manipulation.
A spokesman for Symmetry Energy Solutions said the company is “reviewing the lawsuit” and "denies the unfounded allegations in the lawsuit, which it will vigorously defend.”
News 9 contacted ET Gathering & Processing for a comment but did not hear back by Wednesday's news deadline.
