After being a part of the Norman community for 50 years, the May Fair Arts Festival returns to Campus Corner this weekend with art and entertainment for all ages.
The festival will feature art from local artists, and News 9's Coca Cola Southwest Beverages Porch travelled to Norman to see what the festival brings this year.
One of the artists being featured, Tim Kenney, is an abstract impressionist whose subject is much of the American West.
"This is my 13th year doing Mayfair, been an artist for 16 years," Kenney said. "I do a lot of painting in Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, where my son lives.
Kenney said the inspiration for his work comes from photographs he takes during his travels to the areas.
" I've got galleries in Colorado, New Mexico, Alabama, Norman, Oklahoma City," Kenney said. "I'm a local artist... a lot of people around here in Norman, they like to buy local art."
The festival is being put on to raise money for the Assistance League of Norman, who are trying to clothe underprivileged children in Little Axe and Norman Public Schools.
"Streets are blocked off and we have over 50 vendors here with art," Assistance League of Norman president-elect Maureen Crook said. "We have a blacksmith, we have glass artists, we have oil paintings like Tim's and more."
Crook said in addition to art, there will be pottery and jewelry as well as several nonprofits that are going to be sharing their works and promoting their efforts to make the Norman community a better place.
