President Biden Announces Student Debt Relief For 35,000 Americans

The White House announced it will cancel more than a billion dollars of student debt for around 35,000 Americans.

WASHINGTON -

US President Joe Biden announced on Thursday his administration is canceling more than a billion dollars in student debt.

As part of the Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness program, around $1.2 billion in debt applying to 35,000 teachers, nurses, law enforcement officials and other first responders has been canceled.

A statement from the White House says, of those receiving this debt cancellation., "because of the fixes we made to Public Service Loan Forgiveness, they will now have more breathing room to support themselves and their families."
