It’s August and at Jersey Mike's that means one thing it’s time for Cookies For Kids.
They are known for their sandwiches, but this month it is all about the cookies.
“Come into every Jersey Mike's around the metro and get a cookie to help a kid,” said Jersey Mike’s Store manager, Dani Mirich.
They call it cookies for kids, specifically helping Sunbeam Family Services.
“We also have early head start and head start services, we’ve got wrap-around mental health support and we support grandparents raising their grandchildren,” said Angie Doss with Sunbeam.
The Cookies For Kids program is specifically helping their foster families.
“Jersy Mikes's mission statement is giving, making a difference in people’s lives. Our mission statement is making our customer’s day better and making our community a better place,” said Charlie Brown, Jersey Mike’s franchise owner.
“They’ve actually raised over sixty-seven thousand dollars for our foster care program throughout the years,” said Doss.
It’s getting a treat for giving a treat. “I tell you I eat a cookie every day and it makes my day better and makes the community a better place,” said Mirich.
“A great way to support children in foster care of course is to come into Jersey Mikes, get a delicious chocolate chip cookie, that supports children,” said Doss.
The Cookies For Kids program is for the entire month of August at all 12 metro area Jersey Mikes stores.
“Grab a cookie when you get that sandwich and one hundred percent of that is going to go to Sunbeam and help those kids,” said Brown.
“It’s not just making sandwiches; we really are making a difference,” said Mirich.
