Oklahoma's first SCHEELS store is having a grand opening this Saturday, Oct. 19 at Tulsa's Woodland Hills Mall.
It is the only place in the state where shoppers can ride a 56-foot Ferris wheel indoors.
"We want to make this an overall experience when you come, so you can not only enjoy the product but enjoy your time here," said SCHEELS Assistant Store Leader Allie Fritz.
Inside the entrance to the sporting goods store is a saltwater aquarium with more than 600 fish. Past that is 240,000 square feet of retail space.
"Downstairs is mostly everything you can wear, lots of clothes, lots of shoes," Fritz continued saying, "The second floor is a lot of outdoors things. So, all of our sports sections: baseball, golf, camping, and then the other side is split into our hunting, fishing, and firearms sections."
The attractions also continue upstairs.
"We have an arcade, lots of different simulators, so an archery lane, golf simulator, baseball simulator," said Fritz.
Tulsa will be SCHEELS's 34th location in the United States. The first store opened in 1902 in Sabin, Minnesota.
"Tulsa is amazing, great people, it has a great community, sports are huge here, the outdoors are great, so it felt like a great fit," Fritz said.
The store's grand opening starts at 7 a.m. in the parking lot with food, music, and prizes. The doors will open at 9:30 a.m.
Tulsa SCHEELS is at 6929 South Memorial Dr.
