A man now faces three felony charges after allegedly hitting his spouse and setting fire to a home on December 26.

Charles Lynn Carter, 43, is charged with domestic assault and battery after allegedly hitting his spouse, Thoy Carter, causing injury. The charge is enhanced due to a prior conviction for domestic abuse in March 2021, according to court filings.

He is also charged with second-degree arson for allegedly setting fire to a private residence near Southeast 65th Street and Valley Brook. Authorities say Carter intentionally set the fire with malicious intent.

In addition, Carter faces a felony charge of animal cruelty for allegedly beating and injuring an animal during the same incident.

Carter has not entered a plea. His case is being prosecuted in the Oklahoma County District Court.
