The Carpenter Square Theatre is hosting its annual fundraiser called Best in Ten on March 29.
Board Chair Rick Allen Lippert joined us on the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to share details on the event.
He said the tradition began around 20 years ago, collecting and performing some of the best-written 10-minute plays submitted for the company's playwriting competition.
"These are original plays written by local playwrights, local actors, local directors. If folks have never had the opportunity to come to Carpenter Square Theater and see the plays, it's such a fun time," Lippert said. "This year, we're adding vocalists to the mix."
For this year's fundraiser, Best in Ten will be featuring OCU Instructor Jeremy Small and 24-year Washington Opera veteran Lisa Reagan, along with one of the competition's honorees.
Part of the appeal with the short-form plays, Lippert said, is that if you don't like what you're watching, another story is right around the corner.
The event will feature reserved seating, and the funds will be used to maintain the theatre, enabling it to host more events and performances in the future.
The Carpenter Square Theatre: Best in Ten Fundraiser is on March 29 at 7:10 p.m.
