One person is dead after an early morning shooting at a home in southwest Oklahoma City. Now, police are looking for the shooter.
Officers were called after receiving a report of shots fired about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday near Southwest 31st and May Avenue.
"When officers arrived, they found a small house that's basically behind the actual residence on SW 31st street," said Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight.
As police investigated the area, they found a person who had been shot. They were taken to a local hospital where they later died. Several neighbors told News 9 they heard the gunshots.
"I heard four shots, rapid four shots," said Nasario Hernandez, a neighbor. "It sounded like a 9-millimeter."
Hernandez said he wasn't sure where the shots came from, but knew it was serious when he saw police cars speed down the street.
This isn't the first time he's heard a shooting in this area. Just a month ago, he found a bullet in his driveway.
The person killed was not identified by police on Wednesday, and no arrests have been made yet.
"Investigators are trying to piece together exactly what happened and identify a suspect," said Knight. "Why it happened, who did it, everything along those lines."
It's not clear what led up to the shooting and how many people were involved.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the homicide tip line at 405-297-1200.
