A coming together of businessmen, politicians, and government leaders simply to pray. News 9's Mike Glover went to the metro's prayer breakfast on Wednesday.

“We come together because we recognize our dependence on God and the power of prayer,” said Brent Vawter, president of Christian Business Men Collective.

This is year 40 for the metro prayer breakfast held at the Oklahoma City Convention Center, in downtown Oklahoma City, hosted by the Christian Business Men Connection of Oklahoma. “These are businessmen that are committed to each other and they are intentional to help each other grow in their faith and then pass it on to the next generation,” said Vawter.

Over 1,2000 men and women, from different faiths, backgrounds, and political views, put their differences aside and met in a place of prayer. “We have never missed having our governor be a part of this event, our mayor our U.S. senators, U.S. representatives, fire chief, police chief, attorney general, county DA, sheriff, all of these civic and government leaders have been a part of this regardless of which administration is in office,” said Vawter.

Attendees left encouraged and inspired. “It really, really impacted my life, I just love the unity that I saw here with all the businesspeople,” said attendee Gloria Hamilton.

“Just look around, there’s so many leaders here, there’s so many businessmen, but for them to start their day in prayer,” said attendee David Medina with Bangin for Jesus.

“I got to see them at that moment where I told them they got to go into the Hall of Fame, and what’s incredible is they almost all cried,” said Keynote speaker David Baker.

Baker is the former president of the NFL Hall of Fame. His words lifted those in attendance. “ I think you saw here in this room, a whole lot of people that are excited about continuing to just keep on doing good,” said Baker.

“That’s why I do what I do, my life was transformed when one man made time,” said Vawter.

The Christian Business Men Connection or CBMC meets in small groups, in which anyone is welcome to join, no appointment is necessary. To find out more about the organization and small group meeting times visit their website www.cbmcok.com.
