Running to support the Special Olympics, officers and troopers from all over the Oklahoma City metro are participating in the run.
"We're getting ready for our Law Enforcement Torch Run, we'll be running from [the] Moore Police Department to the Oklahoma State Capitol," Moore Police MSgt. Becky Miller said. "We'll stop at Harn Homestead, which is about 13 miles from here."
Miller said they will later meet up with several other police departments and agencies to finish the journey to the Oklahoma State Capitol.
"We have about 20 officers and employees that are going to participate in the run," Miller said. "Once we're there, we're going to meet up with some of the metro agencies, with Oklahoma City Police, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Midwest City Police, and then we'll run the rest of the way."
Miller said the run marks the beginning of the Special Olympics Summer Games.
"We're doing it because it is the beginning of the Summer Games," Miller said. "Some of the officers will probably run a lot more than than the others, some only run like a mile, so it's fun... we enjoy it."
